Living Forever

"Actor Al Lewis, AKA "Grandpa Munster", died after several years of failing health. He was 95."
For some reason, I already thought he was dead, or rather The Undead. I suppose I’d be happy to live to the ripe old age of 95. I say that but really? I want to live to 207 years of age…perhaps by then I might be 99% machine [like an evil Sith Lord or something].
No one ever warned us about all the great old shows and how as we age, we get to watch them all pass away. I know it’s a morbid thought but for some reason, I always think of these great characters as ageless. The good news is these people live forever in syndication. If only the rest of us could do the same rather than just in the minds of the people we leave behind.
I’m really not enjoying logging into my Wordpress Journal and clicking on the Death Category. Sadly, four of the last seven entries have been starting out that way though. Call me selfish, but when other people die, I start to think about my own mortality.
Living forever is tricky eh?
When I was in school, I remember quite a few of my teachers were at the age where they were just about to retire. Through the years, I’ve heard that quite a few of them passed away. That always freaked me out a little.
I remember thinking as a student that teachers weren’t real people. It was unimaginable to think of them having a real life outside of school. I’m sure we all remember what it was like to be out and about and bump into a teacher and think "you mean, you actually have a life other than being my teacher in school?"… Once I realized they were indeed human, my grades did improve though
Funny how that worked out.
So without rambling too much, I suppose teachers are people who live forever in our minds too. That being said, they should be paid much more. Not only do they have to teach, they have to leave a lasting memory? Quite a bit to live up to if you ask me.
[END OF DEATH THOUGHTS]
Tomorrow, I’m going Super Bowling. This is were we all dress up like our favorite Super Hero and walk into the bowling alley and fight crime. Ok, I wish…but I am going to a Super Bowl Party downtown at the lofts where the TV Pilot I blogged about the other day was shot. It should be good fun. Is it wrong to be more excited about the commercials rather than the game? Do I have to turn in my "Man Card" now?
