Hello 2006
Wednesday, January 4th, 2006Sorry that I haven’t been blogging …truth be told, I haven’t had too much to say. Even now I’m sitting here thinking "what should I write about???" Well…How about a recap of things that stood out over the last week.
I had planned out going to visit my friend Jeff and his wife, who were in San Diego [from Dec 26th until Jan 4th]. This was the plan for New Years Eve…at least until a Flu of some sort knocked me on my ass. I’m still feeling the tail end of the sickies but I’m pretty much back to myself today. It really snuck up on me though…one second, I felt great and the next, I was balled upon the couch watching Dick Clark struggle with counting down to 2006. [I was happy to see Dick Clark, but I have to be honest and say that I felt a tad bit uncomfortable and sad for him...must give the guy credit for going out there and doing the show though].
And so, I didn’t end up driving down to see Jeff…the next day Jeff, Mary and the 2 kids drove up to take me to lunch. We ended up at Jerry’s Deli and bumping into actor James Spader. James seemed like a nice guy…we didn’t talk but he did give us one of those, what I like to call "Celebrity Nods"….you know, they nod to you and give you that "yes, I’m on TV and in Movies and I realize you recognize me…now let me be". He seemed like a nice guy though. I didn’t get to hang out with Jeff as much as I would have liked, but I did manage to meet him in Orange County a few nights ago to take him out for a Birthday Dinner.
Let’s see,…uh…Last night I had a hockey game. We lost and the score was embarrassingly bad. Let’s just say it wasn’t our team at its best.
[Mom, if you're reading this...stop now]
One of the guys on the team, Peter, was knocked in the head and his chin split open. There was blood everywhere….he ended up getting 6 stitches and I told him he’s going to end up with a battle scar like the one on Harrison Ford’s chin (I was hoping this would make him feel better but I don’t think I was doing a very good job of it). The team was giving him the "chicks dig scars speech" and him being a lawyer, was asking for evidence. The sick part was, and this is REAL BAD but I’ll admit it…the whole time he was sitting there bleeding, I was wondering if it would be tacky to snap a picture of him bleeding for the website
I didn’t.
Ok…I guess that brings us to today. I’ve been busy doing quite a bit of work…I’m supposed to break to meet up with Rufus who just returned from his UK visit to see his family for the holidays. That’s pretty much the plan for today.
Hope your 2006 is starting out to be a great one!
