I’m excited about heading out to the Expo tomorrow…it started last night and I’ve been listening to a bunch of Podcasts from people who are there right now…sounds like fun to me.

It’s going on all weekend but I’ll just be dropping in on Saturday. Here’s a little map the site has showing from where all the Expo Attendees are coming from. It’s spread out pretty well and looks like it should be a fun event. The event is also getting quite a bit of press as well. Podcasting is taking over

I can’t help but think of Donald Sutherland at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers every time I hear the word Pod. But in a sense…podcasting is indeed spreading faster than an alien invasion

Being an Indie Musician starved for promotion, it’s either adapt or be destroyed by the aliens …ok…[my sci-fi mind is taking this into a different direction].

I had a bunch of emails yesterday from people who really aren’t sure what podcasting is…and that’s understandable since it’s relatively new. The easiest way that I can explain it is…

It’s basically like a Audio Journal/Blog…and just as blogging has exploded on the world wide web, so has podcasting. What’s happening now is, the average guy or gal with a microphone and a laptop can create a show and gain fans. If it entertains, people will read, listen and watch(enter, Vodcasting).

I’m not sure if my definition explains podcasting enough but if anyone has something more to add to help others understand it, feel free to post.

What’s amazing about the internet is (and I’m sure you’ve all encountered this) if someone is entertained by something, they usually spread the word to their online friends. I think I was sent this "Bush Gone Fishing Katrina" photo at least 10 times from people in all parts of the world. Stuff spreads faster than the Bird Flu online.

With the way technology is changing things, we all could very well be singing "Internet Killed the Video Star" soon.

Yesterday, I received a nice email from my friend Chris in TX who hosts the PMC Top 10 Countdown telling me one of my tracks has been really shooting up the the charts [now at #4]. Thanks Chris, I hope to meet you at the podcast convention this weekend.

Also yesterday…I was told that Adam Curry has been giving me a few spins on his show "The Daily Source Code" (I’m guessing that has quite a bit to do with the song racing up a chart).

For those of you born in the 90’s and not really sure who Adam is, here’s a quickie Adam-Bio according to Wikipedia’s free encyclopedia:

Adam Curry is a broadcasting and Internet personality well known for his stint from 1987 to 1994 as a video jockey on the premier music video channel MTV. In the mid-1990s, Curry was a World Wide Web entrepreneur and one of the first celebrities to personally create and administer a Web site. In the 2000s, he helped pioneer podcasting.

And so, I suppose helping to bring podcasting to existence, makes him the official "King of Pod". Has anyone messed with this new Google Video? A friend sent me some funny clips that were hosted on this and I figured I’d put up a video of my own. Mine was just for shameful promotion[someone has to do it] but I can see where this hosting would come in handy for people looking for space to host their video blogs. I’m not sure how much space they let you have, but I like the set up.

I’m supposed to get some new photos taken tonight and will post one or two tomorrow maybe. I’ll be sure to wear pants without holes in the crotch this time. I seem to have offended some poor guy last time who is probably struggling with his own sexuality[cough/loser]. I don’t FORCE anyone to read my journal…this guy’s email made it sound like i tied him down and forced him to look at my underwear as some sort of A Clockwork Orange torture.

It’s silly if you ask me. Most Americans seem to get so bent out of shape when it comes to nudity….while other countries hardly wear any clothes on beaches. I don’t see people there being mentally damaged for life by seeing unclothed "parts". I DO think that most people look better IN clothes, but I’m not going spaz out seeing someone streaking down the road…I just might be a little upset that I didn’t have my video camera ready

Speaking of video cameras…I’m also going to be shooting some sort of HD camera thing tonight. I’ve never seen myself in High Definition before…this might be a bad thing.  It should be fun though.

I’m not sure how many of you watch HD TV…but it’s quite AMAZING. And what’s funny about HD is…to me, it doesn’t even matter what’s being taped. It’s just so clear that I get hypnotized and deeply enthralled watching whatever is on. I’m now spoiled and have a hard time watching non-HD shows. I look forward to the day when everything is switched.

Well…On with Monday.

I ended up buying a new jacket last night since I couldn’t find a pair of jeans that I liked[that I could afford]. Oddly enough the jacket was LESS than most of the jeans I saw.

Melrose is filled with some pretty interesting sidewalk stores and the people there seem fun. The above photo isn’t the best considering it was snapped with the cell phone…but it might give an idea of an active street. I even ran into the crew taping an episode of Blind Date.  I don’t watch that show but it’s always fun for the camera crew to wait for you to get out the way before they shoot

I’ve seen Jay Leno down there a few times too. There’s a Johnny Rockets across the street where he’s always doing his Jay-Walking skits. Jay tried to wave me down once for it but I passed. I’ll settle for looking stupid on my blog rather than national TV. Besides…if I were to answer the Jay-Walking questions correctly, i don’t think they would air me…and so, in order to get some TV time I’d have to purposely answer incorrectly. Or maybe not…hmmm…maybe next time i see him, I’ll walk up and answer the silliest way i can That might be fun.

Well…the hunt for Blue Jeans continues…

Hockey tonight…early game too…need to start getting ready.

Last night I went to a shopping mall [The Beverly Center] with the intent to buy a new pair of jeans. I’m not usually one to bicker about prices when it comes to clothes. I’m more one of those impulse type of buyers = If it’s something I like and I have the money, I’ll just buy it.

Sometimes new clothes just make you feel good and if it’s something you really like, there’s that added "make yourself feel good" feeling that’s hard to put a price on. I’m not sure if new clothes have the same effect on everyone else or not.

Anyway…since most of my jeans seem to be falling apart[and not in a trendy way either] I figured I’d look for at least one pair, thinking if I find something "cool", I might even buy a few. And so…I walked in Macy’s Men Store. I see a basic pair of jeans that look like nothing special. $180.00! …I continue on at the Beverly Center and find a few other stores. I see another pair of jeans I like… $240.00! This is just a bit too much for me to spend on a lousy pair of jeans. Yes, they looked nice but I just can’t bring myself to spend over $200 on blue jeans.

I might have spent about $100 if it was something I really liked but I guess it’s been so long since I’ve actually bought clothes, I had no idea the prices went up THAT high. I mean…not too long ago, I bought some clothes at Banana Republic on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and I didn’t even see a pair of jeans going for over $200.00 there…so why so much at the Beverly Center?…INSANE if you ask me.

And so…still needing jeans, I’m going to try the Urban Outfitters on Melrose Ave. today. They usually have cool stuff there that doesn’t require a 30 year mortgage to buy. Perhaps I should have just tried that place to begin with?  I never realized buying a pair of jeans could be such a task. Ah well…more to come.

This is sort of cool news… Some date in March, my hockey team is going to be playing a game at the Staples Center. I’m not sure how this came to be …other than we’ll be playing right after The Kings play. I’m told the team gets to do this every once in a while, but this is my 1st time playing on Pro-Ice. Sounds exciting…I’m also told that the main difference is that playing here with the bright lights that it gets to be quite hot. Either way…I’m excited.

I don’t think there will be a ton of people there to watch but we might get a couple stragglers who end up hanging out after the Kings play. Just sounds like something different and fun to do. I’ll at least get a chance to see what it’s like playing on NHL Ice. THAT is cool!

I think I’m just about caught up with things. It’s not as though I came back to a million things piled up but I was a little behind. There’s still some emails I need to get to…["Oh sure, you've got time to blog and not time return my email...the nerve!"].

Let’s see…uh…I mentioned I met with my father while I was in Detroit. Apparently, he now seems to think it was a great meeting. It’s amazing how two people can be in the same room and walk away thinking 2 completely different things. He thinks it was great because… I had just got off a Red Eye flight and had no energy to say what I was really thinking…so at breakfast, I was quiet and just listened. I must admit, my eye muscles where exhausted from rolling in the back of my head but that was about all the energy I had left after going without sleep for so long.

The bottom line is, he’s still trying to feed me the same old crap. I do realize that this will never change…I just wonder if the relationship I have with him now, is better than none at all[which isn't saying much]. This is something I’ll have to figure out for myself. The reason I bring this subject up again is because he keeps trying to call me. He just called again tonight…very out of character for him. In the last week, he’s called me more than he’s called my whole life. Ah well…enough on that.

I’m supposed to run out and have Tea pretty soon and then go grab some dinner.

This is sort of a pointless entry.

Well… It was a fun trip. It seemed to zoom by pretty fast though. The 1st part of being back, I spent it seeing my family. It was a nice visit driving up to northern Michigan to see my mom.

I picked up my sister and we drove up and stayed the night at the house on the lake [the one I joked about looking like Camp Crystal Lake]. Here’s a picture of the lake the house is on…and here’s a very quick video clip you can judge for yourself It’s really a nice up there but I think if it were Summer we could have enjoyed the water a bit more. Pretty to look at though.

Being up north, we saw dead deer on the roads and farm houses…cows… various animals. It really is like living in the sticks. No cell reception… If you get lost in this place, you’re screwed.

The sign to the right was taken of the main road in the town my mother lives in. Now, I don’t claim to be a great speller.. I don’t claim to have the best grammar or writing, but I was pretty sure "Freshables" is not a word. I’m guessing no one told Mr. and Mrs. Carter this information though.

Anyway, my sister and I had a little fun ribbing my mom about the town, but truth be told…it’s really a nice place …they just need to work on getting cell reception.

Halloween was good fun! As I mentioned in another post, my friend Jeff had a great party. I’m told there were about 60 or 70 people there. He hired a bartender and everyone made sure the guy stayed busy making drinks. Tons of food(that got stuck in my crazy mustache), pool table, blackjack tables and music. I got to visit with friends and meet some new folks too.

This is the quickie version of the trip. As fun as the trip was…it feels pretty good to be back in CA. I got off the plane last night and it was pretty warm here. Not that Michigan was freezing or anything…it was actually quite warm for this time of year. I was lucky to have nice weather for my trip. Well….back to getting caught up on stuff
