“Missed It By That Much”

I just heard that Don Adams who played Maxwell Smart, Agent 86, on the TV series "Get Smart", has just died. He was also the voice of the cartoon character Inspector Gadget.
I just remember the show because I’ve always been a sucker for shows and sitcoms from the 1960’s. I truly believe I was born in the wrong generation. Besides, anyone who answers their secret shoe-phone has my attention! :-)
Another of my favorite 1960’s TV shows was "The Fugitive" staring David Janssen as Dr. Richard Kimble. This show used to be on late at night in the metro Detroit area… and being the night owl that I am, the show hooked me. I used to get lost in it.
The 1993 Movie version of "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford was great[we all remember that CGI train wreck], but there was something about that old TV show I loved. Maybe it was that each week Kimble was someone else on the run surrounded by a completely new cast(with the exception of Lieutenant Gerard ). Kimble could basically be anyone he wanted… and to me, there’s something neat about the idea of wondering the country, hitching rides and stopping along old Route 66 to see the 2 headed snakes….and of course, fix everyone’s problems along the way. These days, if you try to do that, you might end up a Cold Case File.
They tried to bring a new version of the TV series back in 2000, but it was the chemistry of David Janssen and Barry Morse that really made that old show… The 2000 version didn’t stand a chance. Well…all this has nothing to do with the Death of Don Adams, but it just reminded me of how much I loved TV shows from the 60’s.
In other Shameful Plugging News: Today I get bragging rights. My website FINALLY is in the top 100k sites at Alexa.com. It took 2 years but the site JUST snuck down to 99,325. I still have quite a ways to go before I reach same traffic rank as britneyspears.com but I’ll get there ![]()
Traffic Rank for britneyspears.com: 10,121
Top 3 Sites according to Alexa.com
1. Yahoo! www.yahoo.com 2. Microsoft Network (MSN)
3.
Alexa’s a fun site to poke around on though I’m not sure how accurate it is. In any event, I’m kicking some web traffic ass considering I don’t have my own TV Show, Movie, or Major Record Company behind me…..yet. Thanks to people come to the site regularly and sorry to those who are here not under their own free will
