SKYBAR
Tuesday, August 9th, 2005Last night, I did something “Super Hollywood”. I ended up going to the famous Sky Bar on the Sunset Strip.
Thank god this place has a website with photos , otherwise I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to describe it properly. Ultra-swank at it’s finest or worst, depending on how you look at it …I mean, I felt like I walked on the set of a Rap Video or something.
I drive by SKYBAR almost daily (not by choice, but because it’s less than a mile away from me) and most weekends you’ll see a velvet roped line with super trendy folks all lined up waiting to be hand-picked to get in. You literally have to [a.] be someone important, [b.] be staying at the hotel(which is about $400 a night), or [c.] be a hot chick to be let in. Not the sort of place I would normally go to unwind since I’m “none of the above” the last time I checked

The back bar/pool area is trippy. There’s pillows and futon type beds for people to lounge around on with a view of Los Angeles that’s pretty amazing (specially at night). No one actually goes in the pool[that I saw], rather…They just lounge around it. I just did a google search for the “Sky Bar” and this link was one of the 1st to pop up explaining more about the place. It’s worth a look
Anyway, Ruchelle was staying there so we hung out for a bit and then had dinner at the House of Blues next door.

I like the food at The House of Blues… I also love that they have TV sets near the tables so you can view the act downstairs performing–that’s pretty sweet.
I really take for granted that I’m so close to all these well known places and I should probably get out there more. Truth be told, most of the time, I’m really much happier sitting home with a good movie-but it IS nice to get out of the house ever so often.
Speaking of “getting out“…Tonight, I’ll be out of the house as well. A friend of mine is playing at a place called The Mint. You remember the very 1st season of MTV’s The Real World in NY? Well, it’s Andre’s new band I’ll be checking out. My old band used to do shows with his old band…. Some back in Detroit, and a few here in Hollywood–he’s a cool “down to Earth” guy and he’s from Michigan as well [so that automatically makes him cool]
Well…I should grab some lunch. More tomorrow.
