The Drop
Thursday, April 14th, 2005Hmmm…It’s really quite amazing all the things a person can get finished before 1pm so long as they wake up early enough. I’ve never been a “morning person” but I do have to admit waking up to catch the worm has its advantages. Of course so does waking up at the crack of 1pm
I think if my body clock was adjusted to being a morning person, I’d do just fine.
Today, I just dropped off what I’m going to call “The Tango Package” off in Burbank and sent off for a passport. The package was just a “drop”…Could be nothing but who knows. Getting a passport feels a little like being a witness at the Michael Jackson trial. Oh wait…That’s just because I had to hold up my right hand and say “I Do” to someone who resembled Webster in a postal uniform
[cue the laugh track].
Back to the pilot thingy…I seriously doubt I’ll get this but stranger things have been known to happen in my life. If by some chance I do, I really don’t even know what the show’s about other than it would require a 3 or 4 day shoot in another country. Sounds like fun to me. I do know that it’s a Prime Time pilot though for ABC so…If down the road you happen to see a TV show with someone doing the Tango, you’ll know that’s the show I didn’t get (unless of course I’m in it LOL).
Hmm…It’s now 1:28pm …I have a call in for some tennis today…It’s really a beautiful day here in Los Angeles, CA. This is PERFECT weather we’ve been having!
TV last night???
Ok…I’m totally hooked on American Idol this season. I started watching it because I heard a fellow I met and whose part I auditioned for in “RENT” was in the top 12[Constantine] and so I figured I’d tune in since he seemed like a nice enough fellow and I had some curiosity on how the show worked. I always imagined it to be something like a phone-in Star Search and I suppose it is.
My thoughts on this show are…
…Judging by the last 3 shows, I think Constantine’s going to win it. Bo seems to be a favorite and I do like his raspy voice but there’s something about him and his personality that I think is going to turn off the 14 year old girls calling in and voting(and it just started to show–perhaps Bo’d be better off saying less?). Also, even I have to admit I groaned when he started singing FREE BIRD. Nothing against the song Free Bird but having played in rock bands, the running joke is that there’s always some drunk guy in the audience screaming out “sing Free Bird“…It’s not even a funny joke.
I also think it’s song choice and “coolness factor” that’ll determine who the winner is going to be. The actual voice almost seems secondary [strange I know]. Carrie has a great look and voice(she seems to be a favorite as well) but her personality is a little too quiet–I’m not sure if that’s the correct description. Anwar also has a Stevie Wonder sounding voice but I’m thinking that since he comes across as a vocal teacher and technically trained that it’ll turn some of the kids off. The blond fellow who looks like he could be related to me …Um…I’m pretty sure him or Scott are the next to go. Of course, it all depends on how they perform and what songs they choose. I know I’m dissecting this American Idol show a bit too much but it’s sort of fun
Another show I watched last night.. Smallville! A new episode AND Lex finally gets to show his bad side. I thought the script was somewhat weak and that they could have made Lex a little more EVIL…I still enjoyed it though.
