Well, it’s New Year’s Eve and 2004 is about 6 hours away from being history…At least on the west coast. Since I was born on the Eastern Time Zone, my “official” New Year begins at 9pm California time….At around that time I’ll make some calls to the folks back east.

Right now, I’m in the middle of uploading the individual files for the song Upside Down to my friend in the UK who’s brother is going to have a little fun with the song and turn it into a “dance/techno mix” [this, I'm REALLY curious about and can't wait to hear it when it's finished].

Ok…Let’s see here. I’ll start with my list of “Good” of 2004…In fact…Let’s just stay with the good and not bring up too much of the bad.

The good news of 2004, I quit smoking. I continue to be smoke-free since June 3rd/3pm…There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t want or think about smoking though. I’ve also found a new hobby/love for playing ice hockey…And made some new friends in the process. Also this year, I’ve moved into a new apartment that I enjoy.

I was hoping to have the new website ready for viewing by January 1st but it’s just not quite done. But I swear it’s close …And I swear you’ll all love it!–at least those of you on a High Speed Connection. 56k people…I’m going to make a New Year’s resolution for you… GET A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION. Once you get one, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

I really feel 2005 is going to be a great year…And people around me keep giving off that same vibe….And so? Perhaps it will be. The one thing I do know? It can’t be any worse than 2004…Things can only get better right? That’s the one thing about being at a low point…Only place to go now is UP! I know this all sounds like a bunch of hopeful mumbo-jumbo but I really think things are going to change for the better for everyone.

I haven’t mentioned the tsunami disaster in my blog…Not because I haven’t thought about it, but mainly because it’s one of those things that’s little hard to swallow. It’s just unimaginable what those people must be going though. The devastation and loss of life there is just unthinkable! I only hope they get some relief soon and their life can return to some sort of normalcy. The tsunami death toll is a number that is just too high.

What I find AMAZING is that Harry Potter is #3 on the list?? I mean, I like a Harry Potter movie just as much as the next fellow, but I never realized he was such a hot subject. Crazy!

I’m am SO BEAT right now. Just got back from our Hockey team’s practice… Man oh man… It just about killed me and I KNOW I’m going to be in some pain tomorrow and …That’s OK (I say that now).

I spaced out and didn’t write a blog before midnight so this is “officially” Dec 31st when it’s meant to be the 30th :-). Tomorrow will be a list of all my New Year’s resolutions. It’s going to be a very short list, even though there’s some major changes I’m starting to feel I need in my life.

Well, I would write more but I’m hurting…And my body’s smell is making my eyes water…Didn’t have time to shower yet…But by the smell of me, I need to scrub off a layer of skin!

Oh…I did manage to stop at Jack in the Box on the way home and order:

1. Egg, Cheese breakfast sandwich of some sort

2. Large Fry

3. Turkey and cheese Pannini roll

this is all way too much food for me to eat…But I sure tried…And I made a pretty large dent in the bag of food. God Bless Jack in the Box….The only place you can order a cheese burger along with egg rolls….A breakfast meal.

Well…I went Ice Skating today at Culver City ..The 1:30 to 5pm session. Lesson learned? NEVER GO ON WINTER BREAK WHEN THE KIDS ARE OUT OF SCHOOL. It was impossible to skate! In fact, it was more challenging avoiding running over little kids than ANY hockey game I’ve ever played. I did have fun in a sort of sick “wouldn’t it be nice to knock all these kids over” sort of way It’s been a long time since I just skated…So that was nice. Not to mention I went to the skate shop there to get my blades sharpened. They’ve been getting pretty dull and now I feel I can dig into the ice a little more. Tomorrow, the hockey team is practicing at the Burbank rink so I having sharp skates for that will be nice.

Smallville’s on tonight..I’m not sure if it’s a new episode or not but I’m hopeful. Well…I need to try to get some work done.

Oh, it looks like the rain finally stopped.

It’s been raining pretty hard here in Hollywood. Thunder and Lightning even! I LOVE IT! It does make for a crappy driving experience though…It’s a good thing I don’t need to make any long drives right now.

Last night I watched the movie De-Lovely with Kevin Kline doing a fantastic job as Cole Porter. I REALLY LOVED IT. Lots of cameos with people like Elvis Costello, Allanis Morisette, Natalie Cole, Robbie Williams and Sheryl Crow…And of course Ashley Judd was her usual perfect self! The movie should expose Cole Porter’s songs to a younger generation.

What cracked me up the most about the movie was how Porter was basically SCREAMING out with his lyrics. I’m pretty sure that today, if someone were to write lyrics like “Blow Gabriel, Blow” or “baby if I’m the bottom, you’re the top” they’d be writing for the Village People’s revival tour :)Regardless, the movie’s worth seeing and it’s done tastefully.

Thursday night I have Hockey Practice and so tomorrow afternoon I’m heading down to Culver Ice rink to skate and get my blades sharpened. It’s been a long time since I’ve just skated…Lately, it’s all been about just hockey…So just skating will be nice..And fun.

I’m feeling pretty FRIED at the moment. I’ve been working on my “computer tan” and the light from my computer just seems to make my brain cells slowly vanish. I DO feel like I’m getting work done, but it’s a SLOW process. I need TEA, and a shower and a slap in the head (I’m sure people are lining up for that slap part)

I’m looking forward to my hockey team’s practice on Thursday night in Burbank…It’ll be good to get back on the ice. Shame some teammates are still out of town for the holidays.

well…I have nothing prolific to say today…But check back tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I’ll have the cure for cancer figured out and written on my journal …So be SURE TO TUNE IN

Well… Christmas is OVER. I DID have a nice time this year
The dogs and I spent most of the hours playing tug of war with the stocking(funny how they had more fun with the stocking than with what was inside).

It was a 3 way tug of war with Boris on the right and Ivan on the left and me snapping the photos

Boris ended up winning the battle…A well fought victory. Ivan and I think Boris has some mystical powers since he was born on Halloween. I’m sure using evil powers for tug of war is against the rules…But I don’t think Ivan cared too much. Ivan was just happy to be snuggled in the corner of the couch.

Ivan’s a lover, not a fighter…His birthday being Valentine’s Day, he’s more concerned with proper lighting and getting the correct camera angle to look his best for the photos

The personalities of animals are just too funny sometimes. You know you’re close to your pet when you can actually read their minds and have long complex conversations about world hunger or something like that

Anyway… I’m now back home and just relaxing, getting caught up on email, calls, and journal entries. It’s good to be home. The next big event that usually makes me want to smash every Timex around, is New Years….But I’m going to have a new outlook on this upcoming year. I strongly believe that 2005 is going to be a great year…. One with big changes for the better.

Well, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

I snapped this picture about 11am today. What you’re looking at is one of the busiest stretches of the famous Sunset Strip…To your right and left are trendy and hip shops and restaurants that on any other day are normally crammed with people and cars. In fact, on weekend nights this street is usually so busy that I avoid driving on it completely.

Driving on it today without a creature stirring not even a homeless person, it felt like a scene from that crazy 1984 movie Night of The Comet.

Today’s HIGH is supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny….That pretty much explains the weather we get all year long. God forbid we get a little mist of rain…If that happens, the TV starts announcing HURRICANE warnings. Of course, if I lived in one of these WAY OVERLY PRICED mud slide houses being held up by stilts in the dirt on the side a cliff, I’d be highly concerned as well.

Yeah, I know this journal entry is coming across very “non-Christmas” but I’m not going to pretend it’s my favorite time of year. Though, I am happy to be spending my holiday with my two little Italian Greyhounds…Boris and Ivan. [yes, I know it's weird to have Italian Greyhounds with Russian names but if you knew these animals, you'd understand how their names are so fitting.]

Last year’s Christmas was nice because I was getting a bunch of dental work done(Xmas gift from Mom).

Kicking and screaming, ok…I’ll admit it…it was nice to be home for the holiday last year. I spent some really great quality time with friends and family…

I talked to my mother and my aunt who’s visiting MI from PA…They’re having a holiday gathering tonight. Christmas Eve was always our families Christmas Morning….We were smart I think we tried that whole “hey let’s wait till the morning to open the gifts” but it never really worked out.

Well as some of you have already noticed, the Journal has a new look to it. I hope you like it better than the old look…The last one was just a regular template …This one’s somewhat designed to match the NEW BG website that’ll be unveiled after the 1st of the year. It’s not quite done but CLOSE

I spent today without email while my site got switched over to the new server, but it looks as thought my email is now working. (sigh of relief) It’s really quite amazing at how disconnected I feel not being able to check email…It’s like a drug withdrawal. CRAZY! Anyway… If you sent me an email and I didn’t respond, it’s not because I’m a big ol’ MEANY…Chances are the email got lost in the shuffle. Sorry ’bout that.

More Xmas cards keep coming in the mail…So far the best one(other than the ones that come with MONEY in ‘em) was one with a picture of a cat in a Santa hat looking all independent like cats do…I open it up and the says:

“Yeah, Yeah, Merry Christmas…Whatever”

I decided to switch hosting companies today. For those who don’t know anything about web pages…I own my domain[which is bobgentry.com] but we all still have to pay a company to host our domains[unless of course we own our own servers].

Well, I woke up today with my website down along with email…This is because the server went down. Normally, I’m a pretty forgiving person seeing that I’ve stuck with this same company since I started my website and in that time they’ve been DOWN at least 40 times…Maybe more. Needless to say, I’m in the process of moving everything over to a new server. Their pricing seems pretty GREAT along with the amount of web space they give. I’ll let you all know how it goes in the next few days. I’m hoping it’ll be a smooth transition.

I really need to do my Christmas shopping!
