Tomorrow night is the Viper Room show!!

I went to rehearsal last night feeling a little foggy still but I actually think I’m going to live through the show! COOL!

Off subject… I go for my MRI today at 11am and then physical therapy tonight at 6pm.

I’m SO fried at the moment but I’ve managed to take the time to make a reverb nation page for facebook. 

It’s damn hard keeping up with all this web stuff. MySpace, Blogging, Twitter, Reverbnation, Facebook…it goes on and on. It’s all fun but it’s almost a full-time job just dealing with the web aspect of shameful promotions online. 

So I guess the point is..click the magical link if you’re on facebook and become a “fan”..or at least a friend

The Viper Room show tickets are selling really well…i have a feeling it’s going to be a full house..maybe I’m just hopeful =)

It’s been a busy week. I spent part of last week plugging the upcoming Viper Room show on Nov 22nd and I’m sure I’ll be doing more of that until the show date. I’m supposed to be doing a few radio shows and podcast interviews. Those are always fun.

I’ve missed performing. Being on stage when things are going well is the best High you can get.

It’s been a little tricky to get the ball rolling again after “taking a break” but I’m starting to feel good again. It seems like the last few years has been one roadblock after another. I know much of it is my own fault but for now I feel like I’m back in control and able to actually get stuff done.

I’ve been writing like crazy these last few weeks as well… mostly bits and pieces but that’s how it usually begins (for me). I even started to write a rock opera musical. LOL
Honestly, I have NO IDEA what I’m doing with this musical but what better way to learn than to just do it. I really need a female vocalist to come over and sit with me to work out key changes and all that to really get a good idea of the range and sound. At the moment, I’m trying to figure out how to write the female parts rather than just have them sing an octive higher than what’s written. So basically, I need to get the correct keys that fit songs without having to transpose when the male or female vocals come in…it’s trickier than it sounds and a little hard to explain. Needless to say…i’m writing.

Still working on new songs for the CD as well… I have one that’s not recorded just yet but I think it’s a “rocker” and hooky. We’ll be playing it at the upcoming show to see how it’s received live.
Okay, time to throw the frisbee! (Vladimir’s ears just perked up)

So, yeah…I’m booked next month on the Sunset Strip again. I’m hoping the 22nd will be a good night since it’s the weekend before Thanksgiving. Anything after eats into Holiday Nightmares. 

Wow, this means I actually have to send out an email to my mailing list…how shocking! Now if I can just remember how to do that. 

We hit the stage at 9pm sharp so to those who are usually “fashionably late” I must remember to tell them 8pm instead

Next week, my mother and sister are coming here for a visit. I’m excited! I pick ‘em up from LAX this Thursday.

I don’t have that much planned while they’re in town but I’ll probably take them to Universal Studios or something like that. They’ve both been out here in the past so they’ve already done most of the touristy stuff and don’t really need to do too much more of that.

Hopefully, our weather will still be sunny and warm. Seems like in the past when they came, the weather was gloomy while they were here and the second they left the sun came back out. Hmm.

It’s been a lazy Saturday so far… Perfect!
Tomorrow night and Monday I’ll be playing hockey games. I love to play but those late night games are a killer.

I’m working on putting a show together sometime in early November…more to come on that soon. Looking forward to performing again. I’ve been feeling pretty good again about doing music and getting back out there.

I was playing through some of the older songs the other day and a little nervous that I might have forgotten the notes. Suddenly I realized my fingers went on “autopilot”…and then the second I started to think about it, I started screwing it up. Figures.

…um. Well, there goes another Summer. It sure doesn’t feel like it here in CA. It’s been super hot and muggy these last few weeks. My dog likes the heat and that’s all that matters in life…the dog. =)

So, I had drummer auditions last Saturday. It went REALLY well. Much better than I expected. In the last post I mentioned about nightmare auditions from the past while this time around it was just the opposite. I just had only 4 drummers come out and all could play really well. 2 of these guys really blew me away…so much so that I had no idea which one to use. It’s nice to know I have some options I reckon but I almost wish that only 1 was a good fit to make make the decision a little more cut and dry. 

Off subject, I went to Cher’s house yesterday. I didn’t actually go inside but was inside the gate for a few minutes… the place just smelled like money and looked amazing (from what I saw). And yes, money has a smell. I just wish I smelled more of it in my  own pocket.

Back to the important things in life… so my dog has been losing his baby teeth over the last few weeks. I’ve been finding teeth in the carpet and even pulled a loose fang right out his mouth. I see another baby fang about to come out too. Poor little guy….he won’t even play with the frisbee but that’ll change over time.

I always have a hard time coming up with the 1st line on my journal entries. So now that I got THAT out of the way…let’s see…what’s been going on?

I’m in the middle of hunting down a new drummer(maybe even 2). I’ve got a day next week where a handful are going to come in and run through a few tracks. What’s funny is, I get nervous auditioning other people. I guess that makes sense since it’s just as much of an audition for me as it is them. 

From what I can tell, the guys coming out all seem like really good players but ALL musicians have nightmare stories to tell. I recall years ago…my old band had a drummer come in…the guy had his own set with at least 25 cymbols …he even brought his own Roadie to help with the drum set…took them 90 minutes to set it all up…we ran through 1 song and I’m pretty sure the guy smashed all 25 different cymbols in 1 song. And, as you would expect…the guy couldn’t keep a steady beat. It’s funny to look back on, but at the time I was too busy trying to control my eyes from forever rolling into the back on my head.

So what happened to my last drummer you ask? Mainly, it was scheduling issues holding things up. He’s still one of the “good guys” and I hope there’s not any bad feelings about it. Enough about that… I don’t want to open any wounds.

So…uh…what else?

This weekend, I’m playing in an Ice Hockey Tournament …like 4 days of hockey in a row. I’ll be lucky if i live to meet these new drummers.
