iPhone-less
Yes, It’s true. I sold my 3G iPhone yesterday. I feel a little snaky saying that I only paid about $300.00 for it and sold it for $500.00 …and after looking at eBay, I see I could have got even more. Too much trouble to me though.
So what was wrong with the phone that made me get rid of it? Absolutely nothing to do with the iPhone itself. I LOVED the iPhone and everything it did. I even got used to the touchscreen typing that I was so worried about. It really is the best phone out there…HOWEVER, AT&T service with the iPhone was what killed it.
I came over from Sprint so that was all I had to compare with…but in all seriousness, 7 out of 10 of my calls were dropped while I was out driving around. And, the calls that weren’t dropped were fuzzy and fading in and out. I tried everything from keeping the 3G OFF while driving to getting something called an iTenna (a little cell phone signal booster). Nothing really seemed to help. And as each call dropped I found myself wanting to throw the phone out the window.
What irritated me even more was.. I’m in a MAJOR CITY…it’s not as though I’m in the woods of upper Michigan.
All that being said, I really do love the iPhone and all the great features it has. It really puts other phones to shame…but if the phone part of it wouldn’t work well for me then I had to switch to something else that did. Basically what I felt I had was a really neat toy that could SOMETIMES make phone calls. For now, I think I might be better off getting the iTouch iPod for all the fun stuff and sticking with a phone that doesn’t make me sound like a “can you hear me now” commercial.
One more bag on AT&T… ok…2 more…
1st is, I’m ticked off because I really loved the phone but I couldn’t seem to use it’s PRIMARY function without pulling out hair strands. And 2nd? The AT&T bill was TWICE AS MUCH per month as what I paid with Sprint. So getting rid of the iPhone was a no-brainer.
And so, I’m back with a Sprint Treo for the time being. It’s a little depressing not having all the whistles and bells the iPhone has but it does do the basic stuff I need like email, text, web, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and most of all…making phone calls. Sure do miss that iPhone screen though :-[

Good cell coverage is regional…I have AT&T in Northern CA, and the coverage is excellent. When we were in OH, we had to get Sprint because Cingular (now AT&T) was spotty. Sprint up here sux… You’d think they’d all get their crap together and provide uniform coverage, but that would just make too much sense… :::wanders off, whining, wants iPhone:::
i’m told it might have something to do with the new iPhone itself…something that’ll be fixed with a firmware upgrade…ah well…my guess is it’ll get better over time and i’ll be back eventually
I live in an AT&T dead zone… so perhaps it’s just as well. Most people around here are Blackberry people, I think. While I prefer the Treo, they’re few and far between.
but isn’t their saying “more bars in more places”????
“it’s not as though I’m in the woods of upper Michigan. ”
Maybe it was due to where you were from, not where you are…
In the beginning I wanted an iPhone, but now, I am glad I don’t have one. I have ATT pay as you go monthly plan with a cheap ass phone, and am content. I hardly even am on my phone, I just let the voicemail messages pile up for a few days, let my family worry a bit about my existence, and then return them. My sister jumped on twitter just because I updated it more than I returned my phone calls. Is there a level of hell for that?
I still need to get my hand on an iTouch/iPod. And I do want one, bad. For now, I’ll just have to live with my MBP.
BTW, how’s the thumb?
heheheh….yeah…they ask you where you’re from originally and then decide whether or not to give you good coverage LOL that would be funny
