So it looks like my dog had a Boob Job…

Baby Got Back
…Only, the boob is on his BACK. He had a pretty high fever the other day when I woke up. His tongue was on fire when he would lick me and he wasn’t wanting to eat. I ended up taking him to the vet and they did some blood-work on him to make sure it wasn’t anything too serious. Turns out it’s just a puppy flu of some sort so he’s on antibiotics.
Back to the “boob”… so because his fever was so high they shot some sort of cold liquid into the back of his neck. I’m really not sure what the liquid was but after a few hours of it absorbing into his body, his fever finally broke. He looked like a little hunchback and I felt really bad for him but this seemed to work.
I think I was more freaked out when he came out of he vet’s office than he was. Seeing this giant bubble on his back was NOT something I expected.
Off subject, I finally got around to upgrading to the latest Wordpress for the journal. I’m still figuring it out. It changed some things and messed with the “categories” …i’ll have to figure it out later. I like the upgrade, it’s just different and will take some getting used to.
July sure zoomed eh?

Poor baby! I’m talking about the puppy not you!
yeah…he was a mess for a while
Poor Puppy. I saw this all the time when I worked for a vet. The fluid was probably Lactated Ringers or Buffered NaCl. It is very common to give animals I.V. fluid subcutaneously, as opposed to vascularly, not to mention less stressful as it doesn’t involve inserting a catheter in a Cephalic vein etc. The good news is he wasn’t sick enough to need that method. =)
When pets are sick they often don’t drink as well as not eating, so this practice ensures they are hydrated well after they’re sent home while the other drugs kick in. It is kind of how a the adipose tissue in the hump of a camel works as an energy reservoir.

You are more on top of your journal than I am on my site. I just can’t get myself to change it around, although I know it is time for a change. I don’t even know how many new releases of E.E. have been out since I installed my version. I suck as a former “web-designer”, but I don’t care. *grin*
well…whatever it was, it seemed to do the trick…i just felt bad for him. he looked like a little hunchback :-[
i’ve really fallen behind on blogging…i blame reality
