a crazy week…but some good news
The Good News of the moment:
I found out yesterday that I’ve been nominated for another award. This one’s from the JPF Awards for Male Singer Songwriter (2006). That, on top of just getting the nomination for Rock Singer Songwriter of the Year (2006) from the LA Music Awards for Upside Down…well..um WOW! I’m really giddy…and geeky with excitement. As cliché as it sounds…it really is just an honor to be recognized and nominated. I’m very lucky at the moment and am just going to try and enjoy the moments while they’re here. [The JPF Award Show is Nov 4th and the LAMA Award Show is Nov 9th.]
And of course…there’s the NBC online Reality Show [StarTomorrow] that’s been taking up much of my time and thoughts…it’s certainly on the front burner of the stove right now. I still need as many votes as I can get so we can move on to the next round. [Info on voting is in the last blog entry].
I’ve been getting tons of emails from folks saying things like "you guys are going to sail through this round" but when I hear stuff like that..it’s scares me…hard to explain. I also worry a little about some of the mean comments about being said about who I’m up against…I sure hope she(and her band) realize that I’m not out there telling people to rip on her…I’m actually doing just the opposite. The nice comments are good to read…but we all know the only thing that really matters is the actual vote. A person could have 200 comments saying great things and still not win the round. I guess I just realize that it’s not a walk in a park and I still need to work for it.
Last night, we had a band rehearsal that I thought sounded pretty well…we’re getting ready for show and trying to perfect the set list. Still no date or place to name just yet…but real soon

my wild plans for the weekend (other than playing hockey on Sunday) is just doing promotions…in a weird way..it feels a little like asking for spare change but it’s all part of the game i suppose.
Perhaps she might be glancing at my blog…I dunno. Win or lose, I’ll have no hard feeling for her and wish her the best. I still wanna win though

Not another nomination?! GEEZ! I think they’re trying to make your life hell. Now you have to write and memorize those acceptance speeches, decide who to take, buy new clothes, reserve a limo, find an empty spot in your apartment to put the award, send out emails to all the little people thanking them for their suppport…
But on the bright side, this is just one step closer to exacting revenge on all those people who have made your life hell in the past. New movie: “Mean Musician”

Actually, screw that. Go in style. Get a Bently with a driver and show up with a big cross around your neck (preferably one larger than your head and encrusted with jewels), a diamond grill, and wearing clothes from your own line. Yeah. That’s the real Bob Gentry.

No question, Bob should play himself. Type casting! He could even write the title song, “I Know What You Sang Last Summer.” Shaley could be the first victim found dead with a hairbrush jammed down ther throat. Next…The Egg People, their bodies found plucked to death in a chicken coop. Next…the president of Nissan, his body found wedged in a Nissan Versa. David Foster could make a guest appearance as himself. He is arrested after confessing there really was no recording contract. He becomes Bubba’s girlfriend.

I am a little upset about the mean comments, too. I think that if any of these people truly sucked they wouldn’t be on the “show” at all and the ripping is unnecessary. Say they are good or it lacked something or that her hair wasn’t right. Just don’t be so cruel that it hurts her. I have also noticed a lot of fighting. I think I am at the point where I wish the comment box wasn’t there. It was more fun when all you had was the song to listen to and no opinions.
Anywho. You rock, my man. You deserve each and every vote, nomination, and all the recognition that goes along with hard work.

yeah…there were quite a few of those comments that i looked at …that and thought “this somehow reflects on me” even though i have no control over what anyone says
I have blogged in my last THREE entries asking everyone to play nice though, so i have been trying
NBC was smart to put that box there….human nature would bring up mud-slinging and everyone will come to watch…sad fact huh
