Star-Last Night
Well, I tuned into the StarTomorrow show last night…pretty fun and campy in some parts. The gal crying gave me a chuckle…is that evil?
I’m still clueless on whether or not i’m even part of this show [even though one of the guys said something insinuating that we were but you know how these things go] …I figure until I actually see if for myself, then I’ll get ultra-excited and begin "running for office".
I knew I wasn’t going to be on last night’s show since I wasn’t in town for that portion of it but I was hoping to know last night whether I made the top 100…I guess we shall see soon enough.
I’m told:
For Round One, the on-line vote will be open for the following durations;
Week 1: Starts at 9pm EDT on July 31, 2006 and ends at 9pm EDT on August 7, 2006
Week 2: Starts at 9pm EDT on August 7, 2006 and ends at 9pm EDT on August 14, 2006
Week 3: Starts at 9pm EDT on August 21, 2006 and ends at 9pm EDT on August 28, 2006
Week 4: Starts at 9pm EDT on August 28, 2006 and ends at 9pm EDT on September 4, 2006
Week 5: Starts at 9pm EDT on September 4, 2006 and ends at 9pm EDT on September 11, 2006Voting for subsequent rounds will be announced at the conclusion of Round One.
With any luck, we’ll be in one of those weeks [will update when I know more]…it looks to me that they’re only releasing 20 bands at a time to compete. They start each band out with 1 cover song and then if you make it past that, then they focus more on Original Material [at least that's what I get from it].
In any case, register and vote on the ones you like that’s there now at StarTomorrow.com . If not for anything but just to see the Prince looking guy doing Jumping Mid-Air Splits
More to come as I know

I watched the show last night and enjoyed it. I was ready to be disappointed because I thought it was gonna be another show like ABC’s “The One” that was cancelled after 2 episodes. Man! That really sucked!! But as for Star Tomorrow, I liked the judges interaction with some of the contestants. I didn’t like the fact that David Foster gave his picks for the best 3 but I’m hoping viewers will have sense enough not to be swayed by his opinion. The online sight was easy to maneuver and the video quality was actually quite good - no artifacting which is usually the case with internet video. I was a little disappointed in the audio levels. They were way too low. I had to crank up my speakers all the way to hear the music. I’m still a little confused about the airing. The host said that this is soley internet based. Does that mean they will longer air the show on TV?
I think the show has potential and hope NBC continues airing it on Monday night. It would be nice to see a quick recap of winners and losers.
And like everyone else who reads your blog, I can hardly wait to see your performance. You are unquestionably better than most who were in the first group of 20.
yeah…i like the site too..it’s pretty easy to get around..what worries me is you can make “Enemies” on it.
I have no clue about it being on TV again…i heard the rating for the show were pretty good so perhaps it will be?
They’re not telling us much right now…i’m not sure they even know what’s going on…
i know the site got BOMBED last night though and it crashed due to so many logging on (this is a good thing, but i bet someon got fired over it).
we shall see what happens next…i just hope they post my `1st cover “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” rather than “i’ll be”–seems like too many people are doing the same song eh?
What? Only 2 comments? Well, some of my friends are kinda computer illiterate also and couldn’t figure out how to navigate the “StarTomorrow” website. Some also didn’t want to register for fear of getting spam. I registered but didn’t put down any real information that would lead them to me….phoney email address. Some also don’t have high speed access. How archaic!
I hope when Bob’s turn comes up everyone will muster up the strength to register and vote. It’s simple and I’m sure you won’t be spammed.
Hey - look at the bright side. Everyone who registers could be eligible to win a new “Nissan Versa.” You can enter everyday. I think they’re giving away one each week. I could use a new car.
yeah…good point..so far…no spam from the site on my end..this is good news..maybe i need to say that when i send out the next emailer.
I used my real email address for each (yes, i have a secret identity ) and have received NO spam - cool.
yeah..so far no spam from the site for me either…i think maybe once the next 20 bands go up ..they might email everyone though
just a guess tho
I’m registered…….apparently my zip code shows I live in Orlando, Fl
see, maybe you need to be living in Florida?

just be sure to bring the can of OFF for all the bugs
oh wait..forget that..i forgot, you like garden creatures
I signed up and voted. No spam. I didn’t even get a “thanks for signing up” email.
I watched all of the videos. I’m convinced Prince is an actor put in there for show purposes and the armless guy is to get viewers as well I think. Hate to be like that… And the Coffey guy… I think Foster just saw a lot of crap that day and at the time Coffey was the best of the mediocre. Speaking of mediocre, the chick that was crying because there is so much average talent, and she can’t get a break…well, in some cases, there’s a reason. Yikes!
I think only one or two of the first 20 is even at your level musically. Maybe their original material would change my mind, but I was generally unimpressed with the talent.
Oh yeah,
VOTE FOR BOB
you have to admit the armless guy singing “hold my hand” is a HOOT! The guy has SOLE
I just wish they would change the commercial with that Coffey guy in it…i keep seeing it aired on NBC and it seems like a slight advantage for him…his original song was not bad but his cover of “i’ll be” is pretty pitchy:roll:
I didn’t like his “I’ll be” at all. He seemed to struggle a little and didn’t look all that entertaining on stage. He kind-a just stood there.
I’m sure yours is much better.
Hope I get to see it…
i hope they just use 1 cover and play our “Ain’t too proud to beg” rather than “i’ll be”…perhaps they’ll just pick from which cover they like best. It seems like a quite a few acts all did “i’ll be” and Hootie and the Blowfish
I still don’t get how they wouldnt let you know. Wouldnt you have to sign a release before they could show you?
oh yes..i signed all the paper work and contract stuff to be on the show. It looks like there’s a 90% chance I am but just because I signed the stuff doesn’t mean they have to put me on …so until i see it for myself, i’m holding off on promotion stuff…right now …all i can say is ” I think i’m on it”
Contracts really suck - especially in the entertainment industry. They’re always EXTREMELY one sided. If the artist makes money, that’s when the leeches and blood sucking vampires come out.
Granted, many artists make huge amounts of money and are able to live an incredible lifestyle but so do the managers, agents, publicists and heads of studios. I was once told by Red Skelton that he made 10 cents for every dollar that he brought in. But as soon as the artist stops making money they discard you like garbage and go on to find their next artist/victim. You really need a cast iron stomach to digest all the bullshit that gets thrown your way.
Believe me. I’ve been there. It really is pathetic.
