But Who’s Counting?
49 hours, 41 minutes and 2 seconds since my last cigarette. But who’s counting?
It’s also been about 50 hours of HELL. I try to keep my mind off of it but it’s tough. I figure 3 days and my body should be nicotine free…the rest is just going to be spent explaining this to my brain.
The laser zapping worked just fine (again)…it really does help with the initial craving but I’m still struggling. I’m always going to struggle. It feels like there’s this internal "joy button" that isn’t being pushed any more.
I’m trying to avoid certain situations and unnecessary stress for this next week. Snapping and going off the edge would come way to easily right now.

Wow, I’ve been there — like 167 days ago. Good luck to you. This is the toughest part. Trust me. If you wanna get a no-BS view of what to expect, check this, a whole category on my blog dedicated to my quit (so far). http://thefifthcolumn.com/blog/?cat=6
Best,
Schad
i like your quote: “In truth, I’m just a smoker who doesn’t smoke.”
after not smoking for almost 2 years and then going right back to it …i SO know how that feels….not looking forward to going back through it all AGAIN
I just wish i never started
ah well…
thanks for comment..will read you more when i get back
Go, Bob, Go!! You can do it!
Sorry, I can’t relate because I have never smoked..but I have faith in you! Besides, my next husband can NOT be a smoker.
hee hee
Good luck, darlin.
you were one of the smart ones never to get hooked.
Day 3 now..i thnk the worst part is over….but GOD i want one…i’m just not going to is all
People quit in different ways. I smoked for 20 years then one day someone took a photo of me holding a cigarette and I HATED the way I looked holding a cigarette. I stopped immediately and it’s been about 25 years since I’ve smoked. Vanity. That’ll get ya every time!
I’ve picked up a ciggie now and then and hated the way it tasted. Luckily, I don’t miss it. In fact, I can’t stand to be around cigarette smoke. I think some people are more addictive than others. My addiction…..sugar. I LOVE sweets and it’s killing me. My triglyceride cholesterol is near dangerous levels. I try to cut down on sugar but it’s like giving up smoking. Tough.
Smokers can look forward to a life living with an oxygen tank for about the last 10-15 years of their life. I can look forward to having a killer stroke at any moment.
Such is life - if you wanna call it that.
i hear oxygen tanks will soon be the latest fashion. I can’t picture you smoking.
Stay with it Bob….I haven’t smoked for about 4 or 5 years now. I smoked for about 25 years. In the end I got really drunk and had the hangover from hell. I stayed in bed for 36 hours. I was not very well, but it got me through the first couple of days. I know that was my one time shot to stop, so I really hope I never start again!
wow…20 years is a long time to suddenly quit…that must have a been SOME hang-over!
Dare i ask what you were drinking and how much?
Me and my friends are never going to smoke again now. I tried a few cigarettes this summer () but not any more. When you come to sing in England you’ll be able to sing as wonderfully as you do for even longer. Kylie
all this means is i’ll last longer if i’m held underwater

love to come to England, by the way
Bought some of your songs the other day. Make more now.
SWWWWWWWEEEEET!

you are indeed!
Thanks…i’ve got the new stuff …just working on recording it now is all
hopefully soon
But I want it now. Now, dammit!!!!
Oh, and I smoke, too. I need to quit.
googluck with that…it’s really THE hardest thing a person addicted t it could ever do…not fun!
Good Lucj - hang on in there !
Thanks
i know it’s supposed ot get easier but it’s not :-[
ah well….i’m still fighting the fight
