Quickie Blog on the Way Out
Wowzers…sorry about the “downer post” yesterday. I guess we all get in funky moods sometimes…I’m human and I mess up. I closed the comments on the post mainly because I figured there wasn’t really much anyone could say on the subject…but I just wanted to write it down.
Back to life…
Yesterday I went to see Tony B play down the street at a club on Fairfax. It was a cool place that I’d never been to and the sound wasn’t so loud that I came home with my ears ringing …that was nice. Sometimes loud music is nice but I like to keep my hearing if i can
Today, I’ll be making my own noise with some players…looking forward to that. Actually, I should start getting in gear before I’m late.

Don’t beat on yourself so bad! We’re not perfect. The longest that I’ve quit was one week, so be proud of yourself that you went THAT long. It not EASY. People should realize that!
yeah..the hardest part is getting passed those 1st 3 or 4 days. Such a powerful addiction!
I remember as a child standing behind my dad while he was driving, (before seatbelts) and deliberately inhaling his second hand smoke because I enjoyed it so much. I remember craving it. But I also knew how much money he spent when we were low on food. Then in high school a teacher showed us pictures of a smokers lungs. I decided to never smoke. But in the Army, they had this silly policy when we were all standing in formation. They would say, “ALL RIGHT TRAINEES, LIGHT EM UP OR PICK EM UP!” So all of us who didn’t smoke were consigned to picking up the butts of those that did. I thought well this sucks! I deserve a break too! So I bought me a pack and smoked the whole thing in one day! No coughing, no nausea, just pure pleasure. I thought, “UHOH I enjoyed that waaaay to much”. I looked at my income, (or lack of it) and my favorite hobby, which was eating out. I said to myself if you don’t stop this now you will forever be addicted and NEVER BE ABLE TO EAT OUT AGAIN! I never smoked again, well maybe a total of 15 or so cigs over the course of 20 years, but none I paid for myself. Thank goodness I loved to eat out soooo much! I’m still a second hand smoker around friends:roll::shock::lol:

what’s funny is…my high school had a SMOKING COURT for STUDENTS…i tell people this and they always seemed shocked
We did too! The “smokeing area” was where all the kids who were still trying to look like hippies were hanging out. Remember hippies? I think they just started smokeing so they could have a 15 min break from class. I remember walking by a sea of smoke, and hip hugger jeans with very wide belts, platform shoes, every bodys hair was parted in the middle and hung straight down. Ahhh , the good ole days? Only I never had time for their stuff. If I wasn’t in class or working I was flying at the local airport. You can bet if I had been wasting my time smokeing then I wouldn’t have had the money to fly and get my pilots liscense. The folly of youth:wink:

we didn’t have hippies but we had “burn outs”…i guess that was my generation’s version of hippies
