Key Findings
I thought this was interesting:
12-24 year olds would choose their MP3 player over traditional radio, according to a recent Bridge Ratings study.
Key findings:
- 85% of the total sample would choose their MP3 player over traditional radio as their
preferred option for music.
- There is a clear generational difference between 12-17 and 18-24 year olds.
- For music listening, the Internet is preferred over traditional radio.
- MP3 use far out-paces radio use.
- When given a choice between listening to music over the Internet or traditional radio stations, 54% prefer the Internet while 30% prefer radio. This preference is more pronounced among 18-24 year olds.
Maybe this just seems interesting because it effects me more. I guess I’ll have to ebay my old 8-Track player
Myself? I can’t remember the last time I actually listened to the radio…I’m not in the car much. The sad thing, I find out who is popular at the time by the guests on The Tonight Show… then right after that I get sick to my stomach thinking "What the hell is THIS doing on National TV?" Not every singing guest on the Tonight Show or SNL is bad, but 80% seem leave me completely confused that someone is actually buying their crap.
I’m off to play Hockey tonight….joy!
Oh..one last Key Finding:
-
The study didn’t mention people over the age of 24 (so I guess those people are not important?).

preferred option for music.
Hi Bob
I’ve read your blog and I am impressed enough to give you a blog award.
Yep, a full blown and very real award for blog design. Where design is the
main criteria, we also look at, content, page layout and general aethestics.
This isn’t a gimmick, I promise, check it out:

Oh cool…I’ll check it out tomorrow(out the door now)…wish i could take credit for the actual Blog Design though but evil.burt built the house and I just moved my “stuff” in
I’m over 24 and I guess you’re right. I don’t count cause I haven’t bought a mainstream album/CD in years. But when I was younger, music was a vital element in being a “hip” teenager. I had a huge record collection. I also agree with you about today’s music. Most of it really, really sucks! I cannot understand the longevity of RAP! In fact, I’ve been yelled at several times for rolling up my car window to avoid hearing it being blasted in the car next to me. I simply replied with “The Finger.” That made it worse because they think I’m being rude in hating their taste. I think I need a gun with a silencer.
I also cannot understand why you have not attained the success that most have achieved. I suspect though that your time will come. I like your music but don’t take my word for it. I think I’ve evolved into an old “un-hip” fart.
Ooops I’m over the age of 24. I only listen to the radio in the car, but my daughter (age 7) has just discovered radio. Fortunately she has a good taste in music. She likes Queen, Robbie Williams and of course Bob Gentry!
I’m a huge Queen fan! I almost wore out their box set.

When i was in Vegas last time i wanted to go see the musical “We Will Rock You” but it didn’t happen :-\
next time eh?
your girl has good taste …it’s all genetic
Can I download you from limewire? ;)
I don’t count either~I’m in the WAAAAAY Over 24 group. I mostly only listen to classic rock~I’m so out of the loop.
As usual.
*sigh*
If you decide to get some more ink, you could put my name on your ass.
I’m totally okay with that.
limewire eh? …i’m not sure i know what that is….is that like the way Napster used to be? File sharing type thing?
I’m 41 and not really sure that I prefer radio instead of mp3, but maybe I would still listen to more radio than if I was 24. Radio was a part of my childhood even more than the TV and it’s still something I have going in the background as often as possible. If not in a regular way, there’s always internet radio
*Radio was a part of my childhood even more than the TV*
me too…i used to escape is radio like how some people would escape in books. I was always a big headphones guy…music always seemed to sound totally different in headphones for some reason
Well… I’ve over that age range but I happen to like listenin’ to my stereo!
Merry Christmas to you!!
i used to listen to the radio growing up… our DJ’s were almost celebrities in Detroit… I just think it’s interesting how things are changing. Signs of us getting old i reckon
BTW, yeah we people over 24 ARE important!
oh and yes….Happy Christmas! I you you have a GREAT one!
