You’ve Got Mail

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bob Gentry @ 5:10 pm

…wait…let me rename that title to "You’ve Got[an idiot who delivers your] Mail".

For the last 3 days, none of the people who live in my building have been getting any snail mail. And so…I called the FINE folks at the post office and they told me the mail person LOST the KEY to get in our front door.

I know accidents happen [I can forgive that]but what really annoys me most is that I was told… that I was the 1st person in my building to call about this. Second most annoying part of this is…I was told "Now that we know there’s a problem, we’ll look into it". My response was…"Well, how did you know the guy lost the key if you didn’t know there was not a problem?" The real accident here is that the person’s parents who i was speaking to on the phone, forgot to use a condom.

I’m going to stop writing about this before I show my super evil side….or maybe I already did.

the guy on the phone was giving such lame excuses and when i called him on it…he tried to turn things around as if i was the one who lost the key. ARRRGE ;)

So much for that ‘Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night’ business, huh?!

I suppose the obvious question is: did you make arrangements yo get the mail that you’ve missed or will miss in the future…?

I’ve seen “Super Evil Side Bob.” It ain’t that scary. Just a lot of ranting and raving and a little kinfe stabbing here and there. Nothing you can’t dodge by pointing past his shoulder and yelling, “Look at that!” He turns around and that’s when you tell yourself….”FEET DO YO STUFF! IT’S SUPER EVIL SIDE BOB GONE BONKERS AGAIN!”

In Japan I received a envelope without contents while I was at work…Later in the evening the postman came and bowed deply and apologixes that had not gotten a letter….Man…canyou imagine THAT happening in the U.S.???

To answer your question: I have lived in the Orient for 15 years of my Looooonnnnngggg life! I love it here…I would come back, but the State Department won’t give issue my Chinese wife a Visa and now she is, at 45, battling cancer so it looks like I will be here a while…

In this case of yours: Shoot the messenger! :)

Yeah, well, it’s a government department right ? You can’t expect them to know what they’re doing or people might start to think they’re living on another planet.

I’ve been at odd with my post office ever since they put a hole in my Rolling Stone with Jessica Alba on the cover. How dare the mess with Jessica Alba? Then all I got was a sorry letter from them.

wow…i’ve had so many bad times standing in line at the post office too…i used to run a mail order biz and had to ship things to other countries…after getting chewed out by a postal worker a few times I figured out how to avoid them :)
PO worker and DMV workers sort of rank the same to me….
i’d like to think they are just human and hate their jobs but it’d be nice if they didn’t take it out on people standing in line….i’m a FedX Fan :)

There’s nothing like dealing with the Post Office for causing one to go postal. Hmm, seems like there’s a definite relationship there. So I prose that we go judge-mental-case when dealing with the courts, im-sure-antsy when we deal with the insurance companies, and law-your-ass when dealing with slimeball lawyers.

Postal workers are the same the world over………in Australia a termed was coined ‘Going Postal’ as several employees after losing their jobs went back to their offices and shot their fellow workers/managers.

2005-09-30 13:59:33

yeah…we have that “going postal” phrase here too…i’m not a fan of Gun being mixed with the Mail….just seems like a bad combo…perhaps they need a gun powder stamp :-D

yeah…do you remember that internet scam a frew years back where this silly email was going around claiming that they were going to start charging for each email sent..like a stamp? LOL
i should have saved that…it was actually quite funny…some people actually bought into it too:)

Yes, I do remember that. I don’t even see how that idea could be considered. There is no single governing body over the internet.

Even if they decided to charge postage for email, who is to say I wouldn’t put up a sendmail server and let everyone use it for free? If they make that a crime, who is to say I won’t run it from another country?

News just in: your post office contact has relatives working in the UK. I am referring to the guy who refused to accept my form for the Passport Office to issue a replacement for a lost passport. Because, he said, he needed to see my passport as ID.
