Ready to Blog

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bob Gentry @ 4:06 pm

Not much time to blog today…or rather not too much to blog about.

I’m heading to Culver City Stick Time tonight at 6pm just to get on the ice for an hour and pass the puck…joy!

Later I’ll be watching whatever the DVR is set to record. Nothing clever to say today…and no funny photos worth posting.

However, here’s a link to some animated videos my friend Rufus did with some of my songs as the background. Some are pretty trippy but I’m enjoying watching someone else’s visual interpretation… and so I thought I’d share.

[do not attempt to view if you're not on a high speed connection]

Ready to Die is the latest one he just finished….there are others on the site worth checking out as well.

Oh, I added a little language translator link to the link section of the page but I’m not sure how well it works. I guess some things just don’t translate. Hmm.

——————————————————————-

Hmm.
I don’t think i make sense in English… let alone another language ;)

nice soundtrack…. what video format is that ‘cuz i ain’t seein’ anything but a green screen, kiddo. ;p

you need Quicktime (i think to view the video)

and in regards to :
“It does not translate well Dutch very also not. Unfortunately that since Dutch one ever of the most beautiful languages are spoke. I weet the Dutch sounds if someone has too much mucilage in their throat, but it is still romantic.”

Cool!

What about Swedish?! Bastards! They don’t have Swedish. I feel left out all of a sudden. I think I am going to lock myself in the bathroom, and cry while cold shower water is pouring on me from above.

Damn I just sounded depressing.

Nice try though with the translator.

Is there anything good on tonight? Oh wait…that My Name is Earl show starts tonight. It looks hilarious. And Big Brother 6 ends. Hmm anything else? Tuesday night TV sucks.

In regards to the video: nice tatt, and shiny female figures. I’m getting a James Bond flashback with the female figures. Good job guys. =)

Kudos to Rufus for the awesome video. Very slick and clever. As for the translator, I too feel left out. There is no translator for Tagalog. (Filipino) Such a racist program! No more Mr. Nice Photographer. You can kiss your free photo sessions goodbye.

The animation Rufus has created is SPECTACULAR! I don’t see what it has to do with the song lyrics but perhaps I lack imagination or strong enough hallucinogens. But it’s STILL amazing in it’s complexity and polish.

And who needs a translator… as anyone can see from watching Star Trek, in the future everyone in the Universe worth talking to speaks American English. ;-)

ah yes..but in Star Wars (which we all know is more how the future will be) they have C3PO to translate :)

I think Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian are all pretty much mutually intelligible.

Huh, the german translation, well ok. I got it because I read the english original before.

My favourite part was puck being translated with “Kobold” (which equals leprechaun, not the sports accessory).

hahahahaha..i went to pass the leprechaun…that is the funniest thing i’ve heard all night!

Thank you for the compliments about the video animation things. I’d like to give a special thanks to the genius (I’m not high) who created the music and which has inspired me to do these visuals in the first place. Without sounding too wierd, his live performance was one of the two most powerful and moving moments in my life (and I’m usually an electronic techo head). So, (Abba music slowly fades in) Thank you for the music, the songs you brings us….;-)
The imagery, I guess thats what the different songs bring up in my head naturally when I listen to them. Anyway, just wanted to say “cheers” :-). And the translator doesn’t seem to have proper English (ie. UK spelling!). Just kidding. I actually work in the translation industry and as machine translation goes, it’s not too bad but it’s no replacement for a human linguist.
Cherio, Ruf

cable modem is very fast here…it zooooooms. I know someone who has DSL and it’s super slow compared to cable….and so…If you have a choice…go with cable ;-)

Huh. From the technical side both cable and DSL connections offered on the market range in the same category of speeds.

That range is rather huge however, from a fragment of one Mbit to something around 20 Mbit. Depending on how big your purse and your willingness to spend it for internet speed is those flash movies will be there in a while or just a zip.

yeah cable here seems much faster …i’ve known two friends with DSL in different areas and cable has been twice as fast.

I’ve been on cruise ships with DSL too…the speeds are nowhere near what we have in los angeles cable..it’s quite amazing

Let me disagree. DSL is no match to cable. My connection is sometimes 4000K. The downside is it’s quite more expensive but worth every penny. At least for me who spends all day in the Net.
Cheers…

Thanks BJ
i’m hoping to re-record “But I Do” …the version on the last CD was just a quickie Demo …but I liked it enough to include it :)
with luck…the new version will be better :)
But I Do is one of those hidden songs that people like once “goldie” doesn’t seem funny any more ;-)

interesting - i don’t believe i ever thought of ‘goldie’ as funny … fun perhaps because of the beat and sound but funny … poignant maybe.

And i still adore the original ‘i’m just goofing around here’ video of But I Do …

not many have seen that verson ;-) i’m not even sure if I still have it :)

yeah…perhaps Goldie is more “quirky”….some other musicians never took the song seriously just because of the title..but I think it had much to say :)

Bueno, good wishes to everyone…
