It’s been 7 hours and 15 days…

Hello

…since I shaved my hair away. [Please hold back on the Sinead O'Connor jokes.] emoticon

A shaved head was just the next step in the evolutionary hair process. The Mohawk was sort of a pain… and though it might have been fun for about 4 days, I found myself wearing a baseball hat most of the time.

I’ll end up growing my hair back but I must say, this certainly is easy to take care of. I’m not sure if the shaved head gives me an "edgier" look or if i look more like I’m about ready to be shipped off to Iraq. In any case, I asked my friend Val if he would snap some shots last night with his super 2992832832933293 mega-pixel camera and the two in this post are my favorites. [Thanks Val]

Shaved Head Leather [Bob Gentry]

And so…I now get to add "Shaved Headed Bob" to the pile of "character shots"…I’m going for as many different looks as I can get.

Speaking of photographs…I was looking through this old box I carry around with me from place to place. It’s strange that since digital photography really gained speed, ALL of my photos are in a folder on an external hard drive. I don’t have many that are actually printed out. It’s as though the photo album is a total thing of the past and the online photo album has completely taken over.

The same thing seems to have happened with CDs. The only CDs I actually own these days are special editions. Everything else was converted to MP3 and backed up. I imagine film companies like Kodak are feeling the hurt, just like the record companies did back in the day when (old)Napster was running strong.

I know this is going to make me sound like an "Old Timer" but thinking back to taking photography in school…none of us ever imagined that dark rooms, photo chemicals and film would become almost obsolete.

There are folks out there who still enjoy the art of film rather than digital[just as there are people who still like LPs], but I’d say in about 10 years…anyone still using film might be looked at the same way as someone who still uses a Ham Radio. We shall see.

Thanks Tony…yeah..the mohawk was just a little bit of a pain.
I’m not sure about the hyperlink issue. It must be something to do with the mailing list not being sent out as html…not sure though.

Love the new hair. Very nice indeed! Those jeans though.. uhm, cool, I guess, for under 15 year olds in this day and age, but adults? Not since 1989. :p

As the photographer, I would like to comment about the comments about “The Jeans.” Whatever it takes to get a person comfortable in front of the camera makes my job a lot easier. I’m sure everyone has a comfy article of clothing that is worn until the last thread can no longer be repaired. I have a favorite pair of pants that I wear over and over again and when it’s life has ended I will miss those pants. Bob could have cropped the photo but I’m glad he didn’t. I like the composition of the picture. Try to imagine the photo cropped to a basic headshot. Dull! I like the look of the torn jeans. Whatever that look says, it’s up to each individual to decide. As the photograhper, I think it says, “confortable, relaxed, unassuming, simple and indigence.”

Apparently ham radios were the first way that New Orleans rescue crews were able to communicate with each other. Area ham radio operators were volunteering their time to help them out.

or an un-fan club posting their hate messages will work too. I’m thinking it’s a sign that things are starting to take of when someone creates a “hate-page” on someone…afterall, any exposure is good right? or maybe not LOL

I have a real thing about short shaved hair, and HAVE to touch! It’s just that it feels so good-strange-spiky-soft. I don’t know, maybe I’m just weird. It looks very good. I didn’t notice the jeans - have to go back and check now!

the mohawk wasn’t to major…when i didn’t have “gunk” in it, you could hardly tell it was even there….it sort of looked like i was bald and wearing a wig when it wasn’t “up” :)
I ‘m liking the look though …it’s easy :)

The new look is cool. I had short hair for many years but Mrs haddock wasn’t so keen on it :) The great thing about short hair is that its so low maintenace, and you dont have to carry a comb :)

Comment by Bob Gentry
2005-09-19 14:09:34

my hair’s been super low up-keep…even when it was longer , i never used a comb…(when longer) my hair is wavy and it pretty much stays in the same spot it drys….it’s like cement in many ways :) but now that it’s shorter..it just drys faster.

I think it’ll be nice playing hockey…i felt super icky sweating under that helmet…i’m sure i’ll still sweat but it might not be as drippy :)

[...] I’ll admit, there was a time when I was posting WAY TOO many pictures of myself. I tell myself, I was just documenting life as it was happening and trying to gain exposure. I remember offending a few of the guys out there by posting this picture [with a hole in my jeans] a while back. That photo actually got me some “hate mail” LOL OVER-EXPOSURE … I suppose I can see now how the picture could offend someone but Fuck ‘em if they can’t handle seeing my underwear. [Oddly enough these same people keep reading the blog.] [...]
