Picky Eater

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bob Gentry @ 11:59 am

Food?I am seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian. I snapped this photo the other night right after bowling [yes, I bowl but only for the fine dining]. "One order of Chili Fries coming right up sir"…

Um…I think the photo speaks for itself as what it REALLY looks like but I’m not going to go there emoticon

Oh, who am I kidding…IT WAS YUMMY! I just wish my arteries wouldn’t clog just by looking at the photo.

Here I am trying to be somewhat healthy…only to turn to the dark side of an order of Chili Fries. I didn’t eat all of this but, I’m guilty of trying. I figure, I play hockey sometimes twice a week…and tennis about once every other week, I can reward myself right once in a while?

I think it might be because I live in a city where people actually know their percentage of body fat, I feel a little guilty. NOW WHERE IS THAT CONEY ISLAND? When it comes to food,  I know I’m weird…like, I won’t eat any sort of meat that’s physically attached to a bone…and yet I’ll slam down 3 or 4 hot dogs (with god knows what’s inside). I suppose there’s just something carnivorous about watching someone slurp on RIBS. I’m sure they probably taste good but you won’t catch me with one of those rib-baby-bibs on, sloshing around a BB-Q sauce blood bath. I know, I’m a picky eater. I get teased for it…and that’s ok :)

Speaking of food… I was out driving and WISHED i had my little Cell Phone Camera ready to snap a photo of the people marching outside KFC holding signs that said "KFC Tortures Chickens!" Hell…one of the guys was even dressed in a chicken outfit with CRUTCHES. I almost circled back around to snap a photo but they were causing a traffic backup already and I just wanted to get home. Quite funny to see though.

I’m not sure i get it…is KFC not killing them fast enough? I’ll have to do some research on this and report back :)

Tired now…just returned from hockey practice in Pasadena…very small ice rink but was good to get on the ice.

Oh…and before I forget…let me post last night’s "celebrity sighting"…

Who: Super Model Tyra Banks

Trya Banks

Where: Jan’s Restaurant

She was there with what looked like her mother? And both were fidgeting with matching Palm Pilots of some sort. She was not eating chili fries.

Now that you mention it - I think I never ever saw any Hollywood celebrity in person.

Don´t feel bad about the chili fries, it´s quite alright if you don´t eat that kind of stuff regularly, I guess. At least that´s what I keep telling myself. It´s all about balance!

Chilli is quite healthy if its made right, but I guess at a bowling hall perhaps that is not the number one priority when they make it.
I haven’t bowled for years. I found quite good fun.

I saw the Queen once when I worked in London. Her car had to stop whilst I was crossing the road. She looked at me, I looked at her and we smiled. I guess she’s not a Hollywood Celebrity though :)

I had bowling in college :)
I have learned that it’s 40 feet from the foul line to the 1st pin.
knowing these things will get me far in life ;-)

I learned more bowling things …my bowling exam was trippy :)
yay for school and chili fries

did the queen look the same in person?

Here I´m remembering, I saw the Pope once. The old one of course. Which brings me directly to the next question:

Why wouldn´t be the Pope be a Hollywood star? Huh. Why not boost catholic popularity with a Pope movie? It should be interesting!

the new pope sort of reminds me of the evil sith lord with the hood :)
i’d give his star on the walk of fame ….or cross :)

YOU are one of the pickiest eaters I have ever known…and I’ve known you most of your life…onions anyone?

Comment by Bob Gentry
2005-09-15 05:12:30

yeah..onions are evil and I strongly think that folks are trying to sneak them in everything….

just onions mainly..meat on a bone….those are the main ones…but I love those things as much as you love all forms of cheese :)

Bob…my husband has you beat as the pickiest eater…have you ever known anyone who doesn’t like mashed potatoes? Or doesn’t use even one condiment on anything!

This reminds me of Jackass. Only it´s called the “Bob Gentry Eats Disgusting Food Show” maybe you can break through on MTV with that?

I can imagine slogans like “See white people turn green.”

Haha.

Do you think I would get as many comments on my blog if I hand approved them and stayed up until 5:40 to do that? Maybe the trick is to show that kind of commitment.

Anyways.

I would So lose at this show ;) you be shocked at the food I live on. Most of my meals are purchased at 7-11 or a gas station. Sad huh? :)

I might get more comments if i didn’t hand approve ‘em. I get the feeling people think i’m taking away their free speech-which is not the case-or maybe it is? I’m just protecting my ass the easiest way i know how and still allowing comments (but you know this).

It’s actually no trouble being able to approve from my cell phone- it bleeps me …i look at it and click “yes” or “no”

I just hope the music work picks up so I won’t have as much time to be approving stuff. ;-)

Here is a HAHA from another normal day as a mom of a pickey eater… My 8 year old son came home from school straved and eating everything in sight when I asked why he was so hungry he said he did not eat the school lunch… he said it was Beefaroni, I said I thought you liked that. He said “Ah, NO I don’t like Beef in my Roni……the saga continues…….

“I don’t like Beef in my Roni” so he basically just wanted the pasta and not the meat? :) that makes sense to me :-)

I’m thinking back to grade school …remember not even having hot lunches? From 1st to 3rd i think kids HAD to be a “brown bagger” or go home for lunch.

I just remmeber school lunch pizza looking like rubber. I think I’ll stick to the chili fries ;)

Hmmm.. I’m not sure what to say about those “fries”

It does look pretty disgusting.. But then again, there are some foods that people eat that look horrible but taste so good.

Awesome blog site going. I stop by often, just never posted a comment before.

Hi Paul! Thanks for commenting!

yeah..there’s so many foods out there that look “already eaten”…
There’s only about 3 places in Hollywood that actually have REAL coney islands. I crave ‘em once in a while and regret eating it after ;)

shout out anytime and thanks :-D

I seem to be the opposite with my meat- attach it to a bone and I am ok, hot dogs? No thanks!

LOL. I feel sick. That photo of the chillie fries is like watching that woman who can push her eyeballs out just by her muscles in her head - I can’t resist looking and then feeling sick but am still looking and thinking, that’s not for real. LOL.

I did actually see what that KFC fuss was about (in a hidden camera report) and it was very disturbing. I hope they’ve dealt with the problem. Guys were just plain ole cruel, e.g. stomping on chickens who were boxed up alive and sending the rest into a panic. Some things sort of leave a scar once you’ve seen them.

I’m guessing this was on the TV News…..the march just seemed crazy. Almost funny to see all these people dressed in chicken suits :-)

Yeah…stomping on chickens does sound like animal torture(even if they plan on killing them). Sounds messy for everyone involved.

Wow, Tyra Banks. That’s a pretty impressive sighting. The chili fries do look a little questionable, but I don’t doubt their tastiness. As for the KFC thing, I had a friend who did a report for class on animal cruelty back in the spring. He practiced his presentation in front of me, and I watched a pretty disturbing video. By the way, I’m not a vegetarian, but I have found myself questioning that more and more in the past year or so. I would recommend checking out the following websites.
