The Day After

Filed under: — Bob Gentry @ 4:04 pm

Thanks to the people who’ve emailed in regards to yesterday’s post. It wasn’t a fun day by any means. I feel better today but I can’t help replay that scene over and over in my head. It’s as if someone video taped it.

That was my 1st time ever having to go through something like that but I do know it’s for the best. The worst part about Addison’s disease other than the disease itself is that EVERYTHING I had read about it says that it’s “treatable“…But what they don’t tell you on the websites is that while the animals are going through their “fits“…It’s heartbreaking to watch and makes you feel quite helpless. Those websites also don’t explain the torture the animal goes through. In a way, I think those sites might give a false hope to people but perhaps the disease effects all animals differently. Who knows.

I have to give “props” to the Vet…He was very professional and he basically pushed for the decision rather than the “hey, I need to make more money on your regular Vet visits and daily medications“—though it DID cost $190.00 to put Boris to sleep. [Seemed a bit high to me, but for a painless death perhaps not?] Well… I need to stop thinking about it for now.

I’ve got a hockey game tonight and I plan on taking out some aggressions on the opposing team though I have to admit I feel a bit tired. This Daylight Savings Time lost hour sucks too. On the bright side, Summer’s just around the corner and I’m going to try to focus on good things happening in my life. Besides, I’m quite tired of hearing about death in general…Terri Schiavo…The Pope…My dog.
