I can honestly say that I’ve never met a Bob Gentry that I didn’t like

So far having the name “Bob Gentry” has been a PLUS. A few times I recall it helping out was when I lived in Orange County, CA and called the Laguna Playhouse to get a ticket for a show….At that time the Mayor of Laguna Beach was named “Bob Gentry”…When the Playhouse asked my name they just assumed I was the mayor and gave me great seats. Of course, I didn’t let them know I wasn’t Mayor (who knows, maybe someday I will be

Another time was about the 3rd time I met Sally Kirkland…When I said “I’m Bob Gentry” she was reminded of and old soap actor friend of hers with the same name…I often get emails from his fans asking me if I’m his son.

There’s also a bass player named Bob Gentry…They have us separated on All Music as Bob Gentry- Bass and Bob Gentry- Guitar…I’m the guitar…Which is silly since I’m more of a piano player I’ve often teased at the idea of having a band called Bob Gentry and only having Bob Gentry’s as members…Silly I know

Of course, doing a google search for the name…You all see the 1950’s body builder pictured below:



If only I was in the same shape

And just recently I’ve been in contact with another Bob Gentry in Northern California…He’s very up on genealogy of the Gentry name and as it turns out he is “Cousin Bob”. I hope to meet Cousin Bob someday soon…Perhaps we need to create a Bob Gentry Day and Convention

I’m sure I’m missing some other notable BG’s but these are just some thoughts on my mind before I head out for tonight’s hockey game. Actually, I just wondered how many times I could type Bob Gentry in one post.
